Melayu Telah Berubah, Utusan Belum…

Wah! Dengan lain perkataan, rakyat Malaysia mestilah menjaga hati Awang Selamat sebelum membuat apa-apa tuntutan kerana bila hati Awang Selamat tertoreh, maka hati UMNO pun tertoreh; dan bila hati UMNO tertoreh maka hati Melayu pun tertoreh. Begitulah agaknya logik Awang Selamat.

Tapi Utusan masih mahukan gurindam perkauman.

    Teruskan usaha anda, Dato.

    Terima Kasih,

    Teruslah mengarang Dato’.

Well done, Zaid. You have a nice layout to match the quality of your writings. You are reaching out to the rural malays and those proficient in Bahasa Malaysia, thereby filling a void. Salams. Din Merican

Satu artikel yang kena pada tempatnya. Terima kasih kepada Dato Zaid. Setiap kali bila bukan melayu menyuarakan sesuatu, UM terus membangkitkan amaran jangan pertikaikan hak melayu.

most honourable sir, you may have said it very well, and all praise to you for your honesty, for your stand against hypocrisy and umnosisation.

however, i must express my displeasure that, in all you profound wisdom, you have neglected to remind umno of who the real malays are.

while the raving and ranting against chinese and indians who for umpteen generations have contributed to the transformation and development from before the fms to malaya and now malaysia, hundreds of thousands, probably even millions, some casually but many having to brave, crossed the straits of malacca, assumed a new identity and nationality, settled in our sovereign land of milk and honey, and called themselves malays and bumiputras – just because they look like and have names which sound like and profess the same faith as genuine malays.

yes, some bigotry first generation non-malaysians “malays and bumiputras” have such audacity and pungency to milk the benefits of genuine malays and join in the umno war cry against the legitimate citizenship of those who built the honeycomb for them.

most honourable sir, zaid, perhaps you could be so kind as to give a history lesson and factual account of who is and should be and should not be a bumiputra and a malaysian malay (pardon the need to define malay as malaysian or otherwise – for this is the only short-sight in the federal constitution – one anomaly which can legally transform any ethnicity to malay.

or perhaps, call for the sampans and tongkangs and sailboats to set adrift vessels full of persona-non-gratia back to where they originated from and where they rightly belong.

  14. wabill Says:

There is something about UMNO and its call to Malays that is intriguing. Utusan’s leanings too is intriguing. Indeed they cannot surely be posturing to be the savious of all Malays as much as they like to. Surely they cannot be speaking to protect all Malays. Would it not be blasphemous for tem to say that they want to protect the likes of Anwar Ibrahim and the rest of the Keadilan Maalays? And what about the PAS Malays?

But sruely htey are talking about the interests of the likes of Mahathir, Khir Toyo, Zambri and a whole host of others who are not exactly Malay in the purest sense.

I am posturing that like the Nazis, who many recklessly assume them to be only Germans, the Malays UMNO and their ilk refer to is no more than an idea. It is not exactly a genetic reference to a human species. The idea here being that they should be UMNO loyal at the foremost. Islam, Malay language, Malay race, and culture have far less bearings to this. How else do you explain first and second generation Indonesians fetted with more privileges than a fourth generation Chinese? How else do you explain Indian Muslims becoming powerful war lords in UMNO? And all of them go under the guise of being called Malay.

UMNO’s Malay is more an idea like Nazis were an idea. Not all Germans were Nazi and not all Nazi WERE Germans. Just like that not all UMNO Malays are Malays and not all Malays are UMNO Malays.

  18. nazryan Says:

    Dear Sir, Salam

On this subject, I am not ashamed to admit that I am one of the NEP by product. And coming from a beautiful heritage of Javanes, Chinese, Ceylon and others – I somehow feel the pain of my fellow Malaysian brothers and sisters.

But then again as per in any school and universities in a just civilization, equal right shall be given to all Malaysian regardless of races, financial and even political belief. That was then and this is now.

Waking up to a new world after schooling, bracing the ever challenging of career development, I notice that there is another breed of Malay (and even Chinese/ Indian etc) whom enjoy an even higher class than other Malaysian. I have seen how they success, failed (actually no such word of fail) to un-imagination level. It really makes me feel sick. At the same time I have seen many Malay successes in each corner of the world without NEP. Thus where is the justification of NEP?

After the math of 1998, my wife and I followed Ezam Mohd Nor path and active in politic. At that time he was in Keadilan in charge of Subang parliamentary seat. We followed him to Bukit Lanjan squatters (now proudly stand the Curve). At that time I never felt so humble in my life. A basic thing for myself maybe a luxury for others. However, due to some constrain, we could not continue with our struggle in Keadilan.

We followed from far but very near in heart, on what happened to DSAI, the birth of Parti Keadilan Rakyat and many other event, some beautiful but many sad.

But now, all that is over. With DSAI, you and other towering Malaysian, we will and can reformed to a new Malaysia where every Malaysian is of equal right in politic, economy, education ect.

    Together we can. InsyAllah!

  19. textpad Says:

Are you saying that pro-Malay racist policies are the only way that the Malay race can continue to survive, and if meritocracy is applied then the Malays will become marginalized?

Are you saying that leeching off the efforts of other races and waiting for handouts by the government is the only solution for Malay survival?

Wahai orang Melayu, kamu tiada sedikit maruah pun ka?

As usual, Singapore becomes a convenient bogeyman for you and your ilk. What do Malays in Sg have to do with this at all? We’re talking about Malays in Malaysia yang ketakutan sampai kencing dalam seluar as soon as they think about the possibility of having to compete fairly against other races. Tengok muka lu pun cukup menyampah dah.

Fortunately for this country the majority of Malays nowadays are more like Zaid Ibrahim, who are aspiring, intelligent and willing to earn their fair share – instead of incompetent cowards like you whose only “skill” in life is to depend on the government for freebies and handouts.

  23. abyone Says:

Tahniah, kerana tulisan yang membangunkan jiwa anak-anak melayu. Pemimpim sepatutnya mempunyai kebolehan sedemikian. Pemimpin yang saban hari memnyogok orang melayu bahawa mereka selama-lamanya memerlukan NEP, hanya berjaya me’layu’kan orang melayu itu sendiri.

  24. textpad Says:

All that “neighboring country” shows is what happens to lazy Malays when there is no NEP to protect them. Many of them even fail to so much as graduate from high school because there are no MPM-controlled O-levels to give artificially high marks to underperforming Malays, nor special matrikulasi schools that let Malays enter universities even though they cannot pass STPM, nor racist policies to hand out scholarships to Malay students with inferior grades.

Never mind the fact that the “neighboring country” performs consistently when it comes to world rankings for a corruptionless, transparent and efficient government. When you cannot perform, blame the other races in the “neighboring country” for “suppressing” you. When cannot find a good reason to build the crooked bridge so UMNO cronies can pocket billions of taxpayer ringgit, let’s blame the “neighboring country” too. How convenient.

So incompetent cowards like you are scared of being marginalized, like you should very well be for the sake of the country.

If you cry and whine about the possibility of being marginalized: then simple, don’t do it to other people, and we’ll be merciful to you in return when the time comes.

  27. alvi3 Says:
